Survival Colony 9 by Joshua David Bellin (Review)

Okay first before I dissect the books and the character, can i just say the cover art work for this book is awesome? Because it really is. As someone who doesn’t mean too, but judges a book by its cover a lot, this book really grabbed my attention.

Second a basis about the book. Survival Colony 9, is set in a post-apocalyptic world. Basically the world went to shit, with only very little survivors left. Oh and to make things even better, there are these alien creatures called the Skaldi who devour the human body from the inside to only leave the skin like an old potato bag. The main character is Querry, he can’t remember a thing from his past. He desperately tries to fit in with the other teens, however with his dad being the leader of the little colony nothing really seems fair towards Querry. Don’t forget there is also power struggles within the Colony, which also doesn’t help Querry. However, Querry learns that something is going terribly wrong.

That’s where im going to stop trying to explain the basis of the book without giving it away.

Overall I loved this book and was able to finish it in two days top. Its got a great character structure, plot outline and it makes me wanna keep turning the page to see what happens. Not to mention the major twist towards the end of the book I definitely did not see coming.

If your looking for an awesome end of the world book I really recommend this one.

To Read or to Not to Read; An introduction.

Reading personally is an escapism,  I’m sure that applies to everyone else in a form or another. I grew up in a small town in Kansas, at a young age I loved to read. I was able to travel to far away lands (cliche I know), fly with Maximum Ride or travel in a tree house back in time. For a few moments nothing around mattered only the words on the pages in front of me.

Currently at the age of 18 and still (unfortunately) living in the same small town, I read majority of my time. I also work with four children. At the beginning of this upcoming fall I plan to attend College to get my BA in children English teaching. That way i am able to move to Japan to teach English.

There’s the basic about me, almost without telling the world everything. There’s always time for that later down the road.
